Ryan Gobbi
Executive VP, Mechanical / HVAC
Ryan joined Cox Engineering in 1996 as a Mechanical Estimator, then holding various positions up to his current role of Executive Vice President of Construction. In this role, he oversees all aspects of the Construction Group working with and advocating for this talented team. Ryan strives for continuous improvement, providing high end customer service, all while making a cohesive team atmosphere a top priority. Ryan considers himself pessimistically optimistic and maintains a strong aversion to cats.

Doug Rose
Preconstruction Manager
Doug joined Cox Engineering CAD department in 2013. Doug leads the spirited Preconstruction department and coordinates with the construction department on all aspects of the jobs. Doug is a builder at heart whether it be his projects with Cox or Lego’s, he is passionate about the outcome. He is a lover of all sports, especially skiing, and coaching baseball. Outside of the office, Doug spends his time with his wife and two boys.

VP, Business Development
Rich joined Cox Engineering in 1993 and spent his first five years as an estimator. For the next twenty years, he was a Project Manager / Sales Engineer focusing on building up life sciences work for the company. Since 2017, Rich has led the dynamic Estimating team as the Vice President of the Sales Division. Outside of the office, he enjoys time with his family, working on his golf game, and always providing a movie quote.

Joe Ardagna
Project Executive
Joe joined Cox in 2021 with 16 years of experience across three New England-based mechanical contractors. At each, he intentionally started as an estimator to learn internal operations before stepping into project management. That hands-on experience and perspective brought Joe to Cox as a Project Executive, where he supports the team with a broad understanding of the industry. As Joe puts it, “the grass is truly greener here at Cox — and I want everyone to know that.” Outside the office, Joe spends time with his wife, two young boys, and extended family, usually outdoors fishing or hunting.

Sean Bayles
Operations Manager
Sean joined Cox in 2014 as a Project Manager and went on to serve as a Project Executive before stepping into his current role as Operations Manager. Over the years, he has helped grow the Operations group from a small team of three Project Managers to its current size of approximately fifteen. Under his leadership, the team is defined by a strong culture of collaboration, a team-first mindset, and a commitment to hard work. Sean lives on the South Shore with his wife, Kara, and their three sons. Outside of work, he enjoys watching his kids play sports, traveling, golfing, skiing, and spending time at the beach.

Kyle McAllister
Project Executive
Kyle joined Cox Engineering in 2018 as a Project Manager and now serves as General Manager of Sheet Metal. Before joining Cox, he worked for a sheet metal subcontractor in estimating and later for general contractors, where he gained valuable experience in MEP estimating and field supervision as an Assistant Superintendent. In his current role, Kyle focuses on streamlining processes and strengthening communication from Estimating to CAD, Shop, and Field — helping make the Sheet Metal team stronger and more efficient. He credits the group’s long-standing success to their dedication, craftsmanship, and collaborative team culture. His favorite part of the job is working alongside the skilled Local 17 sheet metal workers and finding ways to make their work easier and more efficient. Outside of work, Kyle enjoys spending time with his family and golfing with friends.

Bill Portanova
Shop Foreman
A member of the Cox team since 1993, Bill Portanova currently serves as Shop Foreman and oversees the sheet metal coordination team. With more than three decades of experience, he has played a key role in both the field and coordination sides of the business — spending about 20 years as a field foreman and 10 years on the coordination team. Bill has contributed to many high-profile projects, including Gillette Stadium, the Boston Convention Center, NBC Studios, and numerous pharmaceutical and life science facilities. Outside of work, he enjoys watching his son play baseball and his daughter play softball — and hitting the golf course with them whenever possible. A passionate Boston sports fan, he loves watching games together and cheering on all the hometown teams.
Jason Raffaelo
Pipe Superintendent
Jason joined Cox Engineering in 2023, having been a member of Local 537 since 2008. As a Superintendent, Jason assists in the growth, development, and strategic approach within the Pipe Division to ensure its success. He enjoys college football and tries to attend at least one game a year, although not a skater, he likes hockey. Outside of work, he spends his time with his wife Erin, their three sons, and their Siberian Huskey Nova – preferably on a lake: not the ocean.

Samantha Rennie
Project Executive
Samantha joined Cox in March 2022 as an Assistant Project Manager and quickly became an integral part of the project management team. Before joining Cox, Sam spent six years working in HVAC controls as an Engineer, gaining hands-on experience with complex building systems, field operations, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments. She holds an associate degree in Building Technology and Design, giving her a strong foundation in both technical concepts and practical application across mechanical and controls disciplines. Known for her reliability, calm organization, and ability to keep projects moving smoothly, Sam brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to every job. Outside of work, she’s usually with her dog, Mikey — her constant sidekick and favorite way to spend her downtime.

Sheet Metal Superintendent
Pat has been a member of Local 17 as a Sheetmetal worker for over 30 years where he has been a Field Foreman running projects of varying sizes for 25 years. He joined Cox Engineering in 2018 as a foreman and for the past five years has been a Field Superintendent leading his exceptional team. Outside of work, Pat loves playing hockey, riding motorcycles, and being out on the lake with his family and two dogs, Winni and Bella.

Tim Walsh
General Shop Foreman
Tim joined Cox in February 2024 as Pipe Shop Foreman and advanced to General Shop Manager in January 2025. A proud member of Local 537 since 2013, he brings over a decade of hands-on experience in the field, including five years as a field foreman. With seven welding certifications across various processes, Tim’s technical expertise is matched by his passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and efficiency in all aspects of prefabrication. His curiosity and drive to learn new things help fuel the shop’s culture of progress and precision. Before his career in the trades, Tim earned an associate degree in Auto Body and worked in a range of roles — from golf caddie and finish carpenter to data entry clerk and pizza delivery driver. Outside of work, Tim enjoys photography (he’s even won a few awards), tackling new skills — both useful and random — and spending time with his wife, Liz, their daughters, Penelope and Margot, and their dog, Milo.
